Studio Mechanics Training

I.A.T.S.E. Studio Mechanics Training, Local 52

The Studio Mechanics Training is a training partnership with I.A.T.S.E Local 52 to prepare early-career professionals for union careers in the Grip, Electric, Shop Craft or Prop departments in film and television production. Union members teach this paid intensive hands-on training with support from Reel Works staff. Graduates will qualify for placement on NYC union productions, thanks to the IATSE Local 52.

This training is made possible by the generous support of Netflix.

Open Application: Set Dressing Training

“The Studio Mechanic Boot Camp has been an amazing experience! I’m able to learn how to become a better-set lighting technician by applying what we learn in the classroom to the practical days where we get to be hands-on with the equipment. The proctors are awesome as they teach you everything from the big picture to the finer details.”

— Jerry Yao, SMBC Electric Graduate 2019
